Is there an overview available anywhere that highlights the changes in the new Standards? I know we will all read them cover to cover :) but in the meantime, any high-level summary of the major changes? Thanks!
I am not aware of an overview document that is available or one being planned. Sorry but I do not have time now to create such a document. I also have some serious reservations about using use a document. We worked extremely hard to ensure that the language in this new document was accurate and consistent. Trying to create another document from it would not include all that we thought was vital to include. I can tell you that some old standards were omitted; some standards were consolidated; several new standards were added; the sequence was changed; each practice criteria statement is references and ranked according to the new grading scale in the document. That is about all the overview I can provide. Happy reading!! Lynn
Lynn did an interview article with IFCT back in 06 that was great. www.infectioncontroltoday.com/articles/2006/06/the-4-1-1-on-new-infusion-nursing-standards-of-pr.aspx#
Maybe we could get her to do another for 2011 and post it here or her blog, twitter, etc.....? (please Lynn). While I daily check my snail mail box.
