Are there INS or other standards for use of the EJ vein for peripheral access, as far as insertion, usage and removal?
Do acute care facilities allow their RNs to do all of these tasks?
INS SOP Site Selection does not include the EJ. Years ago there was a position paper but it was retracted years ago. EJ is a tortuous vein prone to complications. Emergent use only for a PIV but it should not remain for long periods IMHO,
