I have been inserting PICC lines in the Adult population, for years. Suddenly, there is a desperate need for a Pediatric Inserter. The admin is persuading me to attend a 3day Pediatric PICC Insertion Course, (NO HANDS ON, no actual patient) and the plan was to get my competency from the IR physicians. I don't feel comfortable doing it since I do not have any clinical background or experience in dealing with these age group.
Is there any study or written article that can support my decision when I decline?
Thank you for your feedback!
