PICC's Placed under Fluoroscopy

For those of you placing/positioning PICC's with the help of fluoroscopy, do you manipulate the line or does the Doc/Rad tech?Â Do you have a specific Policy in effect to coverÂ you in this procedure?Â Of the approx. 2000 lines a year, we need fluoro help 1-3 times a month.Â The staff in IR have little or no experience positioning our lines and would prefer the PICC team to position them with the tech working the fluoro pedal.Â I'd love to know what you are doing.

I work as an RN in the IR

I work as an RN in the IR department. We place PICC's everyday under the guidance of fluoro. As nurses we manipulate the line but our tech's are the ones who run the table/pedal. We are not allowed per hospital policy to run the table. We are just starting to place PICC's with ultrasound and micropuncture, so any tips from people would be greatly appreciated!!!!
