Broviac policy

Does anyone have a Broviac policy that they are willing to share? We have an OP that is coming in for lab draws and need to write a policy for our hospital. You can send it to me directly at [email protected]. Thanks in advance.

 The same policy and

The same policy and procedure used for any tunneled cuffed catheter such as a Hickman will work. A Broviac is the exact same catheter just smaller. Broviac is a tradename from Bard Access and you can find their instructions for use online that contains priming volumes for their specific brand. If using another brand, you would have to locate the instructions from that specific manufacturer. All of these are considered to be central vascular access devices (CVAD), therefore the policy and procedures should be the same. For a tunneled cuffed CVAD in an outpatient, there may be no dressing applied if the subq cuff has healed, but that is about the only difference I can think of. So you CVAD policies and procedures should work. Lynn
