Wondering if anyone has any new information regarding the infusion of Amiodarone through a central line...must it be infused through a central line only? I have been receiving conflicting information and our current practice is that it does NOT have to go through a central line. thanks!
The pH of amiodarone is 4, and this requires a central line. Animal studies have shown 100% severe phlebitis with peripheral infusion of drugs with low pH.
