I just called to make my reservations for the Sept. AVA conference. The hotel states that the entire reservation is nonchangeable and nonrefundable. Anyone else experience this? Can anyone suggest another place to stay? I don't mind a one night nonrefundable deposit, but nonchangeable and nonrefundable for the entire stay? I haven't ever experienced that! I left a message for the AVA Registration Department to see why this isn't stated on the registration form.Â
Thanks!
Robyn
I have not tried to book the hotel yet I am still trying to deciede if I will go.
Early registration will close in 3 weeks but there is not a full schedule available - I need to see that before I determine if I go to AVA of the INS fall mtg to get my credits for CRNI renewal this year as I can not afford both. I am sure I am not the only one in the same situation.
Any one know when the full scheudle of events will be available???

There is a marriott right accross the river and they are probably not non-refundable. There is a boat that brinngs you right over to the Westin in 10 minutes and runs all day, night

Here is an update for the AVA conference in Savannah:
The conference shedule will be available on the AVA webpage by the end of next week. Currently, there is a "schedule at a glance" available
For reserving a room at the Westin in Savannah, there is a one-night nonrefundable deposit.
Please contact me if you have any additional questions about the conference.

Darcy,
Thanks for the information. I am wondering if the policy for the refund just changed. I called 3 times this week and spoke to the 800# twice and the hotel directly and they made it clear that the entire stay was nonchangeable and nonrefundable.

It does not matter anymore, because the Westin is sold out. There is a Hyatt and Marriott across the river, and a ferry to shuttle you back and forth to the convention center.

Is anyone in need of a room mate? I am.

BTW – I think there is one room still available. If you do reserve a room, I was told by reservations you have until Sept 7 @ 6pm to cancel without penalty or cancellation fee.

I am looking for someone who will be at AVA who might be willing to assist with Spanish translation. A main conference translator is being arranged, but this person will need a friend to be with her off and on throughout the conference. There may be some funding available. Anyone interested please contact me directly [email protected]

I have a room booked at the Marriot, but not sure I am going to go. Last year when I submitted the budget for the trip I did not realize that accommodations were going to be sooooo expensive. I would consider sharing a room (a guy of course) but even it's looking like my hospital is only going to cover about half and it's not in my personal budget right now. I'm sure Savannah is very nice but the cost of accommodations for this conference are way too high to make it easily doable. Any guys willine to share a room let me know.

Jeff, I found a room at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Historic District in Savannah on hotels.com. It was a different price each night but the entire price for 4 nights including taxes, etc is $656.26. Look for something on East or West Bay Street with a street number close to the Holiday Inn Express. That will make it easy to walk to the water taxi. Hope to see you in Savannah.
