I was just informed by a physician that there is a "new rule" that 5 years after a mastectomy a PICC line can be placed. As you can imagine I am skeptical. But just in case there is a miraculous new rule I thought I would inquire.Â
As always, my strong advise is to put the responsibility for providing this new evidence squarely on the shoulders of the physician. Never allow them to put this responsibility on you! A physician would never treat another physician-colleague this way, so why should nurses allow them to treat us like that. Tell him to show you the evidence. I really do not think he can find anything.
