Study material for VA-BC certification

I currently have the older editions of the INS Core Curriculum for Infusion Nursing  (3rd Edition) as well as the Policies and Procedures for Infusion Nursing (3rd Edition). Also the INS Infusion Therapy in Clinical Practice (3nd Edition). Does anyone know if these texts have been outdated so are no longer a good source for study material for the VA-BC exam? I do have a reference list for the exam and these are not listed. I am trying to save having to buy all new texts. Thanks!

I suggest that you start with

I suggest that you start with the recommended list. A lot of the items are free on the internet. I found that some were free to people who belonged to a specific organization, and could always find someone who did belong who would obtain the material for me. I did spend a little money for a few things - like the Pedivan standards -  but they are worth having.

Good luck.

Those texts you listed are

Those texts you listed are not outdated. The large textbook was just released in 2009 with a publication date of 2010. Of course textbooks are always rather outdated before they are published because they take years to write and get out. I do not know why the AVA committee decided not to use those textbook published by INS as a reference for the AVA certification exam. That is a question that should be directed to AVA. Lynn

Thanks for your comments. I

Thanks for your comments. I just ordered some of the texts listed on the AVA reference list. So, in addition to the ones I already own, should have enough study material! It would be nice to have a study guide, too.

VA-BC study guides

Was just wondering if someone could give me a list of what is recommended in regard to study material.  I would like to find what I can on the internet, but am not sure what I would be looking for there.  Thank you for your assistance.

Check the VACC website

I would suggest you check out the VA certification website for the most up to date materials.  WWW.vacert.org

There is a study guide available for purchase and download as well as an outline and suggested reading materials available in the handbook, which is free.   Good luck!
