Is there any written guidelines or evidence based research for bed side placement when the patient has a pacemaker? I know we should not attempt on the side of the pacemaker, however, my question is; Should it be done at the bedside at all?

There are no published guidelines that I am aware of. My company offers a continuing education course that explores all the issues associated with CVC and pacemakers. The known evidence is presented in this online course written by Deb Richardson, formerly the clinical nurse specialist from the infusion team at MD Anderson.
