Implanted ports and Transducing
Has anyone ever had to transduce through a port-a-cath?  We had an MD request us to do this and our ICU staff has not ever had to do this.  Any info would be appreciated.

Not an ideal way to do it,but we've had to once or twice. Plumb the transducer system between the Huber set and the IV line and it can work. The wave form and readings may not be the greatest since the Huber set tubing isn't the rigid pressure tubing but you can at least track changes and trends with some consistency. Not an "approved" use of a port of course but in some situations you have to do what you have to do.
