Hi I have been placing PICC lines and working in the Vascular Access Department in my facility for 3 years now prior to that I was an ICU nurse for 13 years. I am interested in studying and preparing for the CRNI exam. Can someone help me on where I should start, what materials I should purchase. Unfortunately our facility provides nothing for education and there are 3 of us in our department and the other 2 have gone to AVA the past two years after they were able to scrape money from many different people. I was planning on going to INS next May instead of using the little money I have to go to AVA. But any help of where to start would be great , thanks.Â
First go to the INS website and download all the information there about certification. INS has numerous published resources with test questions and study guides. Frequently, a local INS chapter will sponsor a review course. You will need to have a copy of the INS standards of practice, the INS textbook as the minimum resources for studying. There are also review courses on each of the 9 content areas at the INS conference in May each year.
