Consents for medications

I am updating our Infusion policies and wondered if there was a "List" or standard recommending what medications should have a consent signed prior to infusion. Our current practice is to have the patient sign a consent prior to infusing biologics.

Thank you, Esther

Never seen such a list. On

Never seen such a list. On hospital admission, the genral admission consent covers all drugs. You should refer this question to your facilit y risk management department for their guidance. Lynn

just curious

is this to cover infusion of human albumin and hematin?  Those can be tricky for Jehovah's Witness patients, not all nurses realize these are controversial infusates.  "Blood and blood products" consent for infusion should cover these.
