We have in our policy that we piggyback our chemo into nss as long as it is compatible but not sure if that is documented any place
It should be as this is one of the factors an expert would look for when reviewing medical records in a lawsuit. Your documentation should also indicate if the saline was on an infusion pump or running by gravity. Gravity would allow you to detect any change in the quality of infusion which indicates a possible infiltration/extravasation. An infusion pump would not allow the same method. Lynn
