The MD's in the IR department are requesting to place the Bard Hohn CVC when a patient is refered to them with a malpostion PICC.  I have concerns about this divice in the home care setting.  Please share your in-put. Is this device used for out patient venous access?
The Bard Hohn catheter is an early generation tunnelled CVC. It has been used for out patients, is silicone, and is cuffed. It also is available in power injectable (PowerHohn). The Powerliine is a small bore CVC available to IR's, has a cuff, short tunnelling, indicated for power injection and CVP monitoring, and is available in SL and DL.
