Advice / Experience Building out an in-house VAT

Hi - I am working on building a business proposal for eliminating the outsourcing of vascular services and building out an in-house team. Currently I have a bound copy from the Journal of Infusion Nursing, volume 33, number 5 from September/October 2010 with 5 articles related to this. Looking for updates if they exist, especially with regards to DRGs and charges for services.

I also found a letter from BARD regarding PICC business analysts but my rep said this program has ended and he has no info from it. Has anyone heard of these resources and have them available to share?

I am also trying to build out a USG-PIV program at my facility. Anyone have success or advice with selling this? Lynn, your article, "Development of an Infusion Alliance" is incredibly helpful, especially the information in "Table 2, Venipuncture Costs as a Percentage of Diagnosis-Related Groups" but dated. Any updates for 2018?

Regards and thanks,

Most recent list of evidence

Most recent list of evidence is found in INS Standard on Infusion Teams. You would need to add anything published since mid-2015. Did you find the INS paper on Making a Business Case for Infusion Teams? My article from 2010 would have old numbers now. It would be best to obtain costs from your facility and use that same process. Your own numbers will be more impressive to decision makers. Lynn
