At my institution it seems frequently orders are written to pull a PICC line and start a new one do to possible infection. If this PICC were truely the cause of the infection, is there any length of time, or number of doses of antibiotics given before starting a new central line?
No recommended specific time periods other ABX doses. It is a patient and situation specific decision. Lynn
