I am most familiar with all pumps being returned to a central supply dept where they are cleaned and then distributed to the next patient. When the IV team manages this distribution, there must be some record of who and how they are cleaned between patients. This definitely should be assigned to nursing assitive personnel and not expected of any licensed personnel to perform. The nurse must ensure that a clean piece of equipment is provided, but this task is delegated to nursing assistants on the team. Lynn
