Should masks be worn by patients upon accessing a port

Could someone direct me to any written information (Ie:INS) on standards for the use of masks by the patient upon accessing a port in an outpatient/inpatient setting?

Some of the nurses are using masks, others ask the patient to turn their head., as they access/deaccess. What are other facilities doing? Thanks for your help!

The Infusion Nursing

The Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice, page S46. "Sterile gloves, mask, and sterile technique should be used when accessing an implanted port or pump." This is for all settings.

It is not specific about a mask for the patient. This would depend upon the patient and how well they could tolerate a mask. Turning their head may be just as effective, but there are no studies on this issue at all that I know of.
