Since Zingo is no longer available we are searching for an alternative product to add to our procedural pain prevention options. I have seen J-tip mentioned here before and did a search in which a few postings were found. In our search for evidence based practice we have found a few articles but I was wondering if anyone out there who uses this product would be willing to share your thoughts/ experiences with this product? Pros/ cons, patient response, etc.Â
Anyone?
Thanks!

Due to manufacturing challenges, Anesiva is no longer providing Zingo and they initiated a non-safety recall of current product inventory as of a letter they sent out on Nov 10, 2008. My understanding is they were looking to sale the technology but I am not sure where things are with that. That is about all I know- we were in the middle of implementing Zingo and had just finished our 1 week trial to determine education needs to roll-out to all areas of the hospital when this unexpected announcement took place.
We were going to trial it as well, but had to finish some other work first. I'm disappointed, but I guess not if it wouldn't have worked out. I'm sorry you had to find out that way.

We are looking at using this in our hospital, but haven't been able to find much through our local channels about personal experiences with this product. We are thinking of using this with our adult population and would like to know of everyones experiences with this product. Similarly...is there any official INS recommendation or comments about this type of product?
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure what product you are asking about, but no professional organization especially INS will make a comment or take a position on a product by brand name. Once there is any information published about it, the Standards of Practice could include generic information based on the evidence. But those have just been revised and we did not make any mention of such a device. That document is published about every 5 years, so another one is not due out of a while. Lynn
