National certification for PICCs after 8 hour class?

Has anyone been trained by MedTexx?  I understand that they offer a hands-on training for PICCs and give you a certification at the end of the 8 hour class.

My understanding of certification is the same as most us.  I am curious if anyone knows more about this company or has worked with them.  www.medtexx.com

I have not worked with them

I have not worked with them but I have had nurses call me after some bad outcomes associated with their classes - air travel to get to the class and then the instructor did not show up. They are misleading everyone by the so-called "certification". As you know there is no such thing!

"hands on" sometimes means

"hands on" sometimes means working with a phantom, not a patient.

Be careful about the "certification" verbage.  Such thing does not exsist.  If your employer already inserts PICCs, training should be available through the PICC vendor.  In my experience BARD has offered excellent training, both written and clinical.  I am not recommending a certain vendor....just sharing my experience!

Their website refers to
Their website refers to hands-on practice with thier simulation manaquin.  I am not sure why someone would choose to pay $450 for a PICC class when almost every manufacturer gives them for free (or much cheaper) if you use their products. Some will even follow up with hands on bedside coaching or precepting.
