Can an open ended picc (Power) be used to measure CVP. If so were can I obtain information to support this in order to pass on to ICU nurses and physicians. Â
You can determine a CVP reading through any open ended catheter that is 20G or larger. Yoiu do not need "permission" from the FDA to do this. We have been doing it for years before any company decided to get approval for this. See Kelly Rosenthal's article attached.
Check the IFU for the product used. If it is a Bard Power PICC you can reference the IFU on their website under Nursing PICC's, it is on page 8 of 8.
