We are working on updating some of our policies and procedures.  We are using the INS policy and procedures manual for assistance. My question is about copywright. If we use the information in the INS book how do we go about it without violating any copywright.Â
LYNN....I know you will know. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Beth

Are you taking whole policies and procedures and placing them in your internal document? Are you referring staff to the INS book without entering this into your document? The first scenario might require obtaining copyright permission from INS while the second would not. The Fair Use doctrine in the copyright laws requires a legal opinion about how you are actually using the information. The safest way is to always request permission to use.
