IV Therapy Team Research?

HI,

Need some help if anyone can help me find or dirct me to evidence-based reasearch articles that prove how a IV therapy team can benefit a hospital. If you know please direct me to some articles that would help benefit my research capstone project for the RN-BSN program.

Thanks,Kristine RN

 Look for the articles by
Look for the articles by Dennis Maki MD, he has done a lot of research. Also contact INS, they used to have a cost justifaction packet they will send out for free. In addition, if you are a team that will be placing PICCs you can do a cost comparison between an IV specialist bedside PICC placement with US vs a PICC placed in the radiology department. There is a significant cost saving that adds up over time. Also b/c medicare will no longer pay for CRBSI's the benifit of having a dedicated team performing dressing changes and monitoring can also be a huge cost saving considering the average cost to treat a CRBSI. Don't forgot patient satisfaction, everyone wants the patient to be satisfied now a days

I know of some, but don't

I know of some, but don't have them at hand right now.  Use the CDC - having a specialized IV team starting lines is a CDC recommendation.
