our hospital is thnking about it, the INS standard still recommends 72 hour rotation (standard 49, s51 in Jan/Feb 2006), we do a pheblitis study quarterly and we try our best to keep under 5%. We understand the CDC states 96, and we woud love it..hope this helps you..

We have been doing the 96 hour routine change for several years now with no increase in phlebitis or infiltration.
Unfortunately, administration is looking into getting rid of the "routine restart". They are entertaining the idea of leaving the lines in indefinately! Has anyone else been through this?
