Needleless connectors

Hi, I am looking for some feedback on Baxter Clear neutral pressure caps.  Our system is considering a change and I would love some feedback from hospitals that presently use them or have some experience with them.  We presently use MicroClave and are very happy; however, I think it is a contract, buying issue.  I am trying to be open minded but they seem to be very hard plastic and many more areas for possible contamination than the microclave.  Thanks for any feedback.

 I doubt that the infection

I doubt that the infection risk for one brand is greater than another brand. There are no studies to support this anyway. So I would not put much emphasis on this aspect of the difference between the 2 connectors. It is a matter of which one is most user friendly and liked by all hospital staff. This requires a product trial and formal evaluation process. You are probably right that this change is being driven by a contract. But this could result in less expense if one has a lower purchase price than the other. So that would be a good thing. I would also recommend that you be specific about the brand name of the Baxter connector. Are you actually asking about One Link, which is a clear neutral displacement connector from Baxter. Or are you asking about ClearLink which is a negative displacement connector? Lynn

We are also looking

Our facility uses Baxter One Link and we are not happy with the device at all.  We have problems with cross threading, it is difficult to attach luer devices without the male connection "bouncing" back and becoming contaminated, the device is bulky and we have had a couple pressure sores where the patient's arm rested on the device.  Our CT techs report when the One Link is on the second port of a Nexiva PIV, contrast squirts through the One Link connector.

I am hopeful we can get the MaxPlus Zero in for a trial very soon.  Definitely we will move away from our Baxter One Links as soon as possible.

Yes, we are experiencing the

Yes, we are experiencing the same thing with the Baxter One Links.  They are very hard to make a connection, when the pump "beeps" it usually is because the connection hasn't been straight on.
