I am not familiar with a policy like that in any facility, and I have visited many across the country. Why would you consider this? It is a peripheral IV, placed with sterile technique. Fever should not be a contraindication. Your manufacturer can likely give you some indications for use or a sample policy that you can work from.
How are you supposed to get them afebrile if you can't put a midline in to give them their antibiotics?
