What is the best practice while inserting a PICC line that you cannot advance to SVC, pulling the PICC back to a midline, or pulling the PICC out and inserting a true 20cm midline through the introducer that is already in place
Inserting a true midline defined by tip location in the basilic, cephalic, or brachial vein in the upper arm, level with the axilla and distal to the shoulder. Leaving excess catheter length external is asking for trouble. There has been lots of previous discussion on this so you could do a search to find more. Lynn
