PICC exchange

A PICC has been in place for several months, has migrated out to bracheocephalic position. Is it acceptable to exchange?

 A slow gradual displacement

A slow gradual displacement or a sudden withdrawal? What is the patient receiving? how much longer is this infusion needed? What do you find when you assess the site and arm and neck? I don't think there is a single answer to your question that could apply to all patients each time. I think the infusion/vascular access nurse specialist will have to make a patient-specific decision. Lynn

Exchange

I would say acceptable but not preferable.
