I want IV therapy products that can prevent blood from flowing backward into the needle‏

I know it's so common that IV therapy products in the USA and many other countries can prevent blood from flowing backward into the needle and IV line when the liquid medicine in the bags is used out. What does the magic, the bag, the drip chamber or the needle?
I'm in Beijing, China. I want to sell these IV products in our country. How can I buy some samples from internet using my credit card? I'll show them to our hospitals. So, give me some links please. Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, I do not know

Unfortunately, I do not know what products you are asking about. We do not use such products in the USA. We have many different brands of needleless connectors but they will remain an open line until the intermittent IV administration set is disconnected. So blood will reflux or flow retrograde into the lumen while the set is connected. There is no product that will prevent blood reflux while fluids are infusing. We use infusion pumps to keep the flow moving into the vein, but just a few days ago, I watch a peripheral catheter in my father's arm allow a brief backflow of blood with each of the pumps peristaltic movements. There is one brand of add-on needleless connector that has an internal slit valve that will act by pressure. Once infusion is complete, this valve will close and prevent backflow of blood. This is the TKO connector from Nexus Medical. A similar valve can be found made into the catheter hub of the PASV PICC by Navilyst Medical. Other than those 2 devices, I can not think of any other product that prevents blood reflux. These devices must all be used ***without*** needles as needles can damage the valve. You would have to contact each of these companies to learn how those devices are sold in China. Each country would have a regulatory agency to determine which products can be sold within each country. I know such as agency exists in China because I have been to their offices in Bejing. Lynn

Just this!

Now, I get a sample-SafeLine ADDitIV Primary IV Set, with Universal Spike, Backcheck Valve, and Spin-Lock Connector.

I think the Backcheck Valve works. So blood can not reflux. Is the backcheck valve just under the bag?

Thank you!

There are several brands of

There are several brands of IV administration sets that have a backcheck valve, however this valve is ***not*** for the purpose of preventing backflow of blood from the catheter. The valve is located a few inches below the drip chamber and close to an injection site. The backcheck valve prevents flow of the secondary piggybacked fluid into the primary fluid container. The primary fluid container is hung at a lower level with the device provided in the piggyback set. The secondary fluid container is hung from the IV pole. Pressure from the higher secondary container causes the backcheck valve to close preventing the flow of fluids from the primary container. When the secondary container is empty, the valve opens allowing fluid to flow from the primary container again. It has no affect on the backflow of blood from the catheter. Lynn

Anti Reflux Valve

I noted (also at the AVA conference) the new ICU Medical injection cap with an internal silicone valve that is reported (by them) to eliminate reflux of any type.  This would include the stoppage of blood return into the catheter with loss of flow by gravity (empty bag syndrome) or infusion pump stoppage.  Also with patient movement with coughing sneezing and movement....perhaps in the sheep trial? I wonder if that includes increased vascular pressure with high PEEP, ventilators, chest compressions and percussions. Their brochure and description showed the 3-way valve in all (infusion - aspiration - closed) positions.  Similar to the internal valve noted in the Bard Solo PICC.

Called The "Nuetron"

www.icumedical.com  may have more information however it is quite new.
