is there any documentation stating the percentage of malpositioned picc lines. I have heard 1 in 7 are placed in IJ. I need info on stats of malpositioned piccs.
The only evidence would be the published studies on catheter tip malposition. Look for the new INS standards of practice latter this month as there will be a new standard on this issue. Those articles listed will give you the frequency of occurrence, however we did not include those numbers in the standards document. Lynn
